When we first saw the Super Stroke at the 2006 PGA merchandise show we were impressed. But most of the “Golf World” was not… in fact, it was the butt of a lot of jokes that year. “Wow, if you use this grip, you must be compensating for SOMETHING!”…narrow minded comments such as these were common. But the inventor, Rod Creten, ever-undeterred, was emphatic…. “believe you, me” he said, “this grip will be a major presence on the PGA tour within 5 years.” WOW! Was that ever prophetic!? (not to mention bold in the face of all of the comments from the industries “status quo” stuffed shirts.. you know the so-called "experts."
But, when K.J. Choi won the 2007 AT&T using the original Super Stroke grip, the destiny of the Super Stroke grip was sealed, and the nay-sayers got really quiet- suddenly in awe of “The Big Fat Grip.” (Fehrety and McCord were strictly prohibited from mentioning the actual brand name of the grip- ergo the now-famous underground nickname). The success of the Big Fat Grip goes to show us… when something is TRULY better, practicality will usurp convention EVERY TIME. The Super Stroke is a testament to what can happen when you say “forget the conventional….I want to know what makes SENSE!- to heck with what the rest of the world might think.”
What makes sense is that when it comes to the putting stroke, the hands are markedly more comfortable and reliable when they aren’t forced to use different pressure from the top of the grip to the bottom. Think about it…. can your hands have the same tension when they are gripping two different circumferences? Of course not, but your putter grip is narrower at the bottom than it is at the top, right? Does this make sense? Maybe…for a full swing where the hands are involved- but not for the simple stroke of the putter. The hands must be virtually non-existent… an afterthought in the art of stroking a putt. Hands over-involved in putting have been the cause of disasters in tournaments since the days of Old Tom. Get them out of the equation, and more putts will fall. It’s why more PGA, European, Nationwide, Champions, LPGA, and Web.com tour players EVERY year switch to the Super Stroke PATENTED non-tapered grip technology- and it’s why you should too!
The SuperSroke Slim 3.0 and the FATSO 5.0 are the culmination of 7 years working with designers and Tour pros to develop the ultimate putter grip. The grip that we believe will become the new standard. You can sit on the sidelines and watch everyone else putt better, or you can put a SuperStroke on YOUR putter, and feel what its like to feel comfortable over each and every putt. Not for you?? Then I humbly suggest you ask for square tires the next time your treads are worn…after all, it makes about as much sense!
